Conventional reading and writing is most often achieved when students receive support, practice, and instruction in reading, writing, and word analysis. Pat Cunningham’s 4 Blocks Model provides a helpful framework for not only developing strategies to support these competencies, but also for grounding strategies teachers already use with purpose and context. This course explores the guiding principles of this model and how to use Boardmaker Studio and Studio Starters to support all students in their reading and writing development.
