Protecting the Modify and Main Menu Buttons
January 2010
The Modify and Main Menu buttons in the title bar of your V or Vmax device allow you to customize the system or navigate to many different places in your device menus. Sometimes, it can be helpful to restrict access to these areas so that settings and programming are not inadvertently changed. Here are four ways to protect the Main menu and Modify buttons.
Password Protecting the Main Menu (Note: A password only protects the blue Main Menu icon. It does not restrict access to the other icons in the title bar.)
- Select the blue Main Menu in the title bar at the top of the touch screen.
- Select Setup in the main pull-down menu.
- Select Setup Menu in the second pull-down menu. The Setup menu will open.
- Select the Interface Features button. The Interface Features menu will open.
- Select the Title Bar tab at the top.
- Select the Enable Password check box. A system keyboard popup will open.
- Use the system keyboard to enter a password.
- Select the OK button. The system keyboard will request that you verify the password.
- Use the system keyboard to enter the password exactly as you did the first time.
- Select the OK button to close the system keyboard popup.
- Select the OK button when the password is successfully verified. If the password verification fails, return to step 6 and try again.
- Select the OK button to close the Interface Features menu.
- Select the OK button to close the Setup menu.
Enabling a Menu Hold (Note: This feature makes it necessarily to hold down the blue Main Menu icon for at least 5 seconds in order to access it.)
- Select the Main menu button in the title bar.
- Select Setup.
- Select Setup Menu.
- Select Interface Features.
- Select the Title Bar tab.
- Select the check box next to Menu Hold to add the hold.
- Select OK to exit Interface Features.
- Select OK to exit the Setup Menu.
Activating Full Screen Mode (Note: When you activate Full Screen Mode, the title bar is no longer visible on the screen. To access title bar icons, you will need to select the power button and "Toggle Title Bar" or a small triangle that appears in the upper right corner of the screen.)
- Select the Main Menu button in the title bar of the touch screen.
- Select Setup.
- Select System Settings.
- Select the Full Screen Mode check box in the Screen Settings group box.
- Select the OK button to close the System Settings menu.
Removing the Modify Button from the Title Bar (Note: If you want to make changes to a page or button, you will need to follow these same steps to restore the Modify Button to the title bar.)
- Select the Main Menu button in the title bar.
- Select Setup.
- Select Setup Menu.
- Select the Interface Features button.
- Select the Title Bar tab.
- Select the Show Modify Button check box.
- Select the OK button to close the Interface Features menu.
