Answer:

The PhoneIT is made for users who do not have the physical ability to lift their phone off the hook and manually dial out (or use auto dial). If the user of a speech device does have the physical ability to pick up the phone and dial-out, telephone conversations can be carried out via the speech device with a regular phone or speaker phone. Therefore a PhoneIT may not be needed but it is still an option for anyone.

With the PhoneIT you can:

  • Unhook the phone line to dial out, solely by using your speech device.
  • Dial out and make outbound calls (manually or auto dial), solely by using your speech device.
  • Pick up and answer inbound calls, solely by using your speech device.
  • Elect to set up for private listening with headphones during your call.
  • Elect to setup for private outgoing speech from your speech device.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The PhoneIT requires a wired connection (plugged in) to the nearest telephone line wall socket.
  • The PhoneIT requires a wired connection of its power supply (plugged in) to the nearest 120VAC wall-socket.
  • The PhoneIT requires a wired connection of the PhoneIT box (plugged in) to the speaker jack on your speech device.

COMPATIBILTY:

  • The PhoneIT works with most of the older Touch-Tone phone lines but is incompatible with many office/institutional phone systems and digital services. If you hear loud musical notes as you dial your phone, it is more likely to be a system which is compatible with the PhoneIT.
  • The PhoneIT works with the following DynaVox speech devices:
    • DynaVox V and VMax
    • Maestro
    • Xpress
    • M3
    • DV4 and MT4
    • MightyMo and MiniMo
    • DynaVox3100 and DynaMyte3100 (via the installation of additional files, free from our website)
