Answer:

There is a method to send/receive SMS text messages via email without requiring bluetooth or a compatible phone. You can send a text message to a receiving cell phone via the mydvox email (or 3rd party email) where you would use the receiving phone number that you are trying to send the text to using the format of 5551234567@vtext.com etc as the To email address. The cell phone user will receive the email as a text message. They can then reply back to you which is received on the device as an email.

This would also be an option to consider if your current cell phone is not compatible or work properly with the DynaVox device. You will  need an active Internet connection to send the text-as-email. If you are using a Vmax/V device, you can use an Ethernet cable or an external wireless adapter in order to connect to a wireless network to send or receive the emails.  For a list of wireless adapters, click here.  If using a Maestro, Vmax+, V+ or Vmax Dual Core, there is built-in wireless for an internet connection.
