Product Solutions for Autism

AAC and educational supports promote communication and learning for individuals with autism

Children who are nonverbal can benefit from the use of an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) speech-generating device at a very young age. It will allow a child to evaluate options and make choices, participate in classroom activities and learn and use new words. A child who has limited speech can also benefit from a speech device when communicating needs, desires and more complex concepts such as feelings.

Comprehension of written text and processing of oral language are additional challenges for many children with autism. Some of these challenges can be effectively addressed through products provided by DynaVox Mayer-Johnson such as curricular supports and tools than enable you to create and adapt learning activities specific for a child with autism.

Vmax

DynaVox V and DynaVox Vmax
The DynaVox V and larger Vmax encourage language and literacy development and can be customized to grow with the communicator. The device can be configured with picture and symbol-based representations and/or word-based pages. Visual scenes also enable users to communicate in the context of specific images. The InterAACt language framework of each device is designed to provide tools and content that enables a person with autism to communicate using age-appropriate language, despite his or her communication level.

Xpress

DynaVox Xpress
Portable, discreet and easy-to-use, the DynaVox Xpress delivers full communication capabilities in a convenient hand-held size. Similar in size and appearance to mainstream technology, it is appealing to the autistic communicator and invites their communication partners to interact more naturally. With advanced touchscreen technology, the display is clearer and larger than those on other PDA-based communication devices. Like the V and Vmax, the communication software of the Xpress promotes rapid communication in any setting and allows for personalization by loading digital photographs, videos, and MP3s.

Tango

Tango
The Tango is designed to complement natural interaction. Its small, lightweight size and unobtrusive look means there are no physical barriers between communicators. Its six button structure lets the child with autism say just what they want to – the way they want to say it. Tango boasts some of the most natural-sounding voices in the industry. It features Voice Morphing™ technology that makes a recorded adult voice sound like a male or female child's voice. Its symbols, developed by animation illustrators in the entertainment industry, make it especially appealing to children and young adults.
