What is the PC Demo?

The PC Demo allows you to try out all of the software features of Impact on any Windows PC. The demo includes all the onscreen keyboards, all the word prediction features, all the configuration editing capabilities, ...everything you'll find on the Impact devices themselves. You can even try out add-on configurations such as WordPower (for Tablet XL), Picture WordPower (for Tablet XL), Velocity (for Palmtop3 and Tablet XL), and VocabPC (for Palmtop3). Although the PC Demo isn't the perfect substitute for actually trying our products out in person, it can be very helpful in getting to know Impact.

System Requirements

To run the PC Demo, you'll need to have a PC running Microsoft's Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, or XP operating system. We do not have a Mac version of the demo, nor a version for Windows 3.1 or 95. Additionally, your system will have to meet the following requirements:

• a 200 MHz Pentium processor or better
• At least 32 MB of RAM, preferably 64 MB or more
• At least 25 MB of free space on your hard drive
• A 16-bit sound card or better

Downloading and Installing

Start the installation procedure by downloading and installing Impact_Demo_Setup_Full.exe (18.8 MB).

To download the demo, click on the appropriate link, choose "Save this program to disk", and select a folder in which to temporarily store the setup program. Once the download is complete, double-tap on the newly downloaded ".exe" file and follow the onscreen installation instructions.

You should now be able to run the Palmtop, Handheld, and Tablet demos by selecting them through your Start menu (under Programs>Impact).

The User's Manual for Tablet XL Impact and Palmtop 3 Impact are also available online. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat installed to view these PDF Files. You can download and install this FREE software from the Adobe Web Site by clicking here.
