InterAACt and Connections to the World

Control Your Environment
InterAACt's framework is based on a person's ability, to make controlling their TV, appliances and daily-use items easy. Since aphasia may cause people to re-learn tasks like turning on the DVD player difficult, DynaVox has built-in the controls used by common appliances into its AAC devices.

For adults, it is all about independence and regaining control after a stroke or event that has caused aphasia. Reconnecting to the world is an important part of growth, here is how InterAACt helps:

Television controls
Beatrice is an Emergent communicator; she uses a digital image of a bedroom to turn on her tv. InterAACt provides the image and information she needs at her ability level. This allows her to control her tv easily.

Beatrice presses the image of the tv...

Now she can turn on the TV and choose a favorite channel. InterAACt provides the control that Beatrice needs at her level of ability.

By providing familiar settings, remote control and easy access to relevant vocabulary DynaVox’s InterAACt framework makes what was once difficult -- easy!
