Answer:

Out in the Windows desktop and other Windows7 applications, selecting with eye tracking works as a basic single left click.

How do you get a double click (e.g., to open a program or open a folder) with eye tracking?

ANSWER:

1.) Minimize the Dynavox software to reveal the Windows7 desktop...
2.) Go into the Windows START menu in the lower left corner of the desktop screen
3.) Go, in the  StartMenu, into CONTROL PANELS and look for FOLDER OPTIONS
4.) In FolderOptions, on its "GENERAL" tab, look for "CLICK ITEMS AS FOLLOWS:"
5.) Move the dot to "SINGLE CLICK TO OPEN AN ITEM (point to select)",
6.) Click the "APPLY" button in the lower right corner of the FolderOptions menu.

This will render all eyetracking-derived clicks done out in Windows7
as the equivalent of a double left-click.

NOTE:  Eyetracking won't be able to make any selections outside of the Dynavox software unless
"EXTEND SELECTION METHOD TO DESKTOP" is turned on. This is found in the Dynavox software
by going into the first Pull-down Menu (the circled down-pointing triangle at the top edge of the screen),
then into SETUPS, then, on the next menu, touch the phrase ‘SETUP MENU’, which brings you to
the big main floating SetupsMenu with the heading "DYNAVOX SETUPS VERSION...". In the
lower right corner of this menu you will see the option for "Extend Selection Method to Desktop".
